Born and raised in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, Tamara Vitale has been captivated by gender and sexuality studies since prior to her arrival at KU in the fall of 2006, and became focused on these issues in a historical context during the completion of her MA in Global & International Studies. Now in pursuit of her PhD in American Studies, her research focuses largely on the intersection between human rights and neoliberalism, especially related to the politics of social justice. When not conducting research, Tamara can be found either teaching Western Civilization or spending time with her cats.
