Why Study Abroad?

Mark Twain said, "travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness."

American Studies is the study of the United States, North America, and its transnational relationships to other parts of the globe. Here are some of the areas of the world that AMS Majors have recently traveled to and spent an engaging semester:

  • Angers, France
  • Wollongong, Australia
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Santiago, Spain
  • Great Britain Direct Exchange (various sites), United Kingdom
  • Leicester, United Kingdom
  • Western Civilization, Italy & France
  • Radboud, Netherlands
  • Hong Kong, China

The KU Office of Study Abroad has detailed information on how and when to apply.

Interested students might also consider participating in the ISEP exchange program.
