Chicago, IL. The Leather Archives & Museum (LA&M) announced today that Amber R. Clifford-Napoleone (Ph.D. University of Kansas) has been selected as its 2012-2013 Visiting Scholar.  Clifford-Napoleone will use the LA&M collections during September of this year in support of her "Hell Bent for Metal: A Study of Queer Fans of Heavy Metal" research work.  

Amber R. Clifford-Napoleone is Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Curator of Collections at the University of Central Missouri.  She earned her Ph.D. in American Studies at the University of Kansas, and specializes in gender and sexuality in American music scenes.  While at the LA&M, she will study the ways in which the leather community created the heavy metal pose as part of her project on queering heavy metal.  Dr. Clifford-Napoleone lives in mid-Missouri with her wife Tara and their dogs.  Her website can be found here.
