Biography

After receiving an MA from KU in anthropology, Ariane  took a few years off from school to pursue other interests. During that time, she taught both English as a second language and anthropology. While she very much enjoyed teaching, she felt a desire to get her doctorate. She was very fortunate to be among the few who were admitted during her cohort. Currently, she is working on dissertation and hopes to finish it soon.

She is interested in blackness, Latin American and the Caribbean, Afro-Latinos, the African diaspora, the Jamaican diaspora in the Caribbean and Latin America, conceptions of home, travel, American interventions in Latin America, and the rural-urban divide.
